Veterinary Medicine
Medicine Department is one of the oldest section ofBombayVeterinaryCollege, Parel, Mumbai – 400 012 which was established at the inception of this institution in August 1886. The Department is situated in the S.P.C.A. campus. In the beginning the Department was teaching Materia and Medica, Pharmacy, Clinical Medicine and Toxicology. Later on in 1960, as per I.C.A.R. syllabus, Preventive Medicine was included in the teaching. From 1961, post-graduate courses started in the subject and so far 113 students have obtained their M.V.Sc. degree and three students have completed Ph.D. degree. The Department offers following courses leading to B.V.Sc. & A. H., M.V.Sc. and Ph.D. The Department provides gratis technical services to theIndia’s first biggest affiliated animal hospital “BaiSakarbaiDinshawPetitHospitalfor Animals”. The faculty and the post-graduate scholars of the Department provide gratis technical services to the various Medical wards (General, Gastro, Distemper, Rabies, Cattle, Horse etc.) of the hospital. In addition, the Department provides referral services to animal patients of Mumbai and adjacent states. The Department of Clinical Medicine is in forefront of education, research and clinical services.
